Applications
Ancient DNA
Overview:
Obtain unprecedented insight into an organism's evolutionary history by sequencing whole, partial or mitochondrial genomes of extinct species. The GS FLX System enables comprehensive analysis of degraded ancient DNA from fossilized, frozen, or uniquely preserved samples (bone, hair). By sequencing individual reads, the system facilitates the differentiation of the target sequence from ancient environment contaminants. The ability to generate sequencing reads from individual molecules and perform directional, strand-specific sequencing enables the study of oxidative damage in ancient DNA.
